Troubleshooting Tools with the View OPC Driver

Description

When an application is being developed based on a QP+, often it is needed to troubleshoot the communication to the PLC. Using the View OPC Drivers, there are two useful tools:

  • The Driver Logs
  • The Diagnostics tools allows to monitor the communication frames

Resolution

Please, follow the steps to open the logs:

  • In the View Runtime, in the Windows Bar, the “Proficy View Integrated OPC Driver” icon can be displayed
  • Click on it with the right button, and select Configuration

  • This will open the Logs.

  • Information regarding the messages can be found clicking on the Help button of the Channel Properties Dialog, in Chapter Error Descriptions.
  • The logs can be exported to Text File: Click on the Tools option, then Event Log and Save as Text File

If debugging or monitoring the communication frames is required, you can open the Diagnostics Tool:

  • In the Proficy View Integrated OPC Driver Log, click on View Option.
  • Then Click on Channel Diagnostics.

  • Select the required channel and click Ok.
  • The Configure Channel Diagnostics will be displayed.
  • Click on View. This will “show the Communication Diagnostics log” window.
  • In this window, the communication frames can be monitored as well as some Statistics
