The GSD (General Station Description) is the device description technology for PROFINET.
This includes, the PN-GSD for PROFINET Devices using GSDML (GSD Markup Language, XML based).

GSDML schema compatibility per PME major versions and highest available SIM:

PME 8.6 sim 16 supports GSDML schema versions  1.0, 2.0, 2.1, 2.2 and 2.25.

PME 9.0 sim 13 supports GSDML schema versions  1.0, 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.25, 2.3 and 2.31.

PME 9.5 sim 20 supports GSDML schema versions  1.0, 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.25, 2.3, 2.31, 2.32, and 2.33.

PME 9.7 sim 2 supports GSDML schema versions   1.0, 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.25, 2.3, 2.31, 2.32, and 2.33.

PME 9.8 sim 2 supports GSDML schema versions   1.0, 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.25, 2.3, 2.31, 2.32, 2.33 , 2.34, 2.35 and 2.4.
