Error 12295: Catalog version mismatch

Problem:

When validating a PLC target such as RX3i or 9030, the following Error message may appear after adding in a new IO module to an existing configuration:

Error 12295: Catalog version mismatch. Please upgrade all modules to the latest versions.

Resolution:

Look for other modules of the same part number that you just added in the configuration and replace them with the same module part number.

For example, a user adds in an IC693ALG223 into the rack. Validate the target and then gets Error 12295.

Deleting this new module and validate will get rid of the error, but when you put the module back in, the same error comes back.

The root cause of this error is because, the user has 2 or more of the same card in the configuration, but the catalog version doesn't match. Right click on the module and choose properties. In the inspector properties, there will be a catalog version number. The newer module will have a newer catalog version than the existing module(s).

You cannot downgrade catalog versions, the fix here is to replace the existing old module(s) with the same part number and rebuild the configuration of the existing card as the settings may not be carried over.

So right click on the existing module(s) and choose replace and then choose the same part number. Then verify if the settings are the same, if no then you will need to re-enter in the parameters to match what they were. Validate again and now the error will not be present.
