Password Reset for View Runtime on Windows PC

Summary : Procedure for overriding/resetting Enhanced Security (ES) for View Runtime on Windows PC / Logic Developer - PC (LDPC) if password is lost.

Machine Edition 8.00 or later introduced enhanced security feature. Just in case if user had enabled the Enhanced Security feature but forgot the password. The following procedure will give capabilities to reset the password.

  • The following Windows file explorer folder options will need to modified
    • Check box for Show Hidden files , folder , or drivers
    • Uncheck the checkbox – Hide extensions for known file types
    • Uncheck the checkbox – Hide protected operating system files

Procedure:

  1. Make sure the PAC Machine Edition (PME) and View Runtime application are closed.
  2. Using Windows File Explorer navigate to C:\Windows
  3. Locate folder.bin and secdata.bin file and delete them
  5. Once the files are deleted, the secured password has been removed. You can return the File Explorer options back to their preferred state and start using PME.
